Japan's Nissei, Sumitomo Heavy subsidiary, ShinMaywa penalized for antitrust violations

In addition, the companies and another manufacturer received cease-and-desist orders today. The Japanese antitrust authority said that the companies had engaged in bid rigging for mechanical parking systems in urban areas of Japan. The Japan Fair Trade Commission issued cease-and-desist orders and fine-payment orders to Nissei, Sumitomo Heavy Industries Material Handling Systems, its agent Fujipassc, and ShinMaywa for two types of bid rigging involving mechanical parking systems. Nippon Conveyer received only a cease-and-desist order. Japan's three major manufacturers of mechanical parking systems, along with an agent, were fined a total of 526.13 million yen ($3.5 million) for antitrust violations. In addition, the companies and another manufacturer received cease-and-desist orders today. The Japanese antitrust authority said that the companies had engaged in bid rigging for mechanical parking systems in urban areas of Japan....
