Proposed UK water utility price controls under review by antitrust regulator

( March 19, 2025, 11:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK antitrust regulator is reviewing price controls imposed on five water utilities after sector regulator Ofwat referred across their rejection of its proposals. The Competition and Markets Authority is due to report on the disputed reviews within six months. Ofwat published its final decisions on price controls and what water companies should deliver for customers and the environment in 2025-2030. The references to the CMA concern Anglian Water, Northumbrian Water, South East Water, Southern Water and Wessex Water. Thames Water requested a reference but has asked for it be deferred.  Statement follows.
