India cautious in introducing Digital Competition Bill, minister says

The draft bill has faced criticism for its discretionary powers afforded to the Competition Commission of India and for its contrast with the European Union's Digital Markets Act. Concerns have also been raised about inter-ministerial conflicts. While affirming the bill's necessity, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra emphasized a balanced approach of enforcement and self-regulation, alongside comparative analysis of international models. The goal is to ensure fair competition and prevent market dominance, he said.
