Microsoft says Google request for US testimony over algorithms a 'bridge too far'

( February 7, 2025, 21:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Microsoft told a US federal court that Google served it with a deposition notice with 18 broad and burdensome topics.  In a status report, Microsoft told the US District for the District of Columbia that Google seeks wide-ranging testimony on issues — many of marginal relevance — including the data used to train Microsoft’s and OpenAI’s artificial intelligence models, its consideration or analyses of the government's proposed remedy, and Microsoft’s communications with the government. "Microsoft has worked hard to accommodate Google’s expansive request," even going so far as to allow testimony into Microsoft’s limited communications with the government. "But testimony regarding Microsoft’s practices regarding users’ privacy and proprietary algorithms is a bridge too far," it said.See attached document....
