PepsiCo decries 'partisan' US FTC lawsuit, says case wrong on facts, law

( January 17, 2025, 17:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: PepsiCo said a price discrimination lawsuit filed by the Democrat-led US Federal Trade Commission is "wrong on the facts and the law." The unprecedented expansion of the Robinson-Patman Act reflects the FTC’s "fundamental misunderstanding" of the omnichannel retail marketplace and the important role that consumer product suppliers play in providing lower prices and value to consumers, the company said in a statement. PepsiCo’s practices are in line with industry norms and it does not favor certain customers by offering discounts or promotional support to some customers and not others, the statement said. "PepsiCo strongly disputes the FTC’s allegations, and the partisan manner in which the suit was filed. We will vigorously present our case in court," it said.Statement follows....
