US DOJ asks to make oral argument in Epic Games, Google app store case appeal

( January 16, 2025, 01:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice is asking the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal to allot it five minutes Feb. 3 when Circuit Judges will hear arguments in Google's appeal against an injunction in an app store monopolization lawsuit brought by Epic Games. The DOJ said it is "particularly concerned about Google’s attempt to place unwarranted limitations on a district court’s authority to remedy monopolization, which would unduly narrow the 'broad' relief necessarily available to 'terminate the illegal monopoly, deny to the defendant the fruits of its statutory violation, and ensure that there remain no practices likely to result in monopolization in the future'."
