EU sees ‘massive’ drop in Chinese parcel shipments after €3 fee, lawmaker says

The blanket fee is intended to apply until 2028, when a shared EU customs data hub should enable duty calculations per parcel. EU lawmakers are due to give the wider customs reform their final approval next week.The EU’s temporary customs fee on low-value parcels of €3 ($3.50) has already caused a “massive” drop in shipments from China, according to Dirk Gotink, the Dutch center-right lawmaker leading the European Parliament’s work on wider customs reform....
