China establishes international alliance to combat telecom, online fraud
( September 10, 2026, 04:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China on Thursday established an international alliance to combat telecommunications and online fraud, with 46 founding countries and four international organizations participating, state media Xinhua reported. Representatives gathered in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, and issued a joint statement agreeing to establish the International Alliance Against Telecommunications and Online Fraud. The China-initiated alliance is intended to become a specialized intergovernmental organization with broad participation from national law-enforcement agencies and the capacity to coordinate action against cross-border telecommunications and online fraud and related crimes. Another 34 countries attended the founding meeting as observers, while representatives from organizations including the UN and Interpol also took part.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
