Europe's largest industrial carbon storage project starts operations in the Netherlands

( September 7, 2026, 15:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Europe’s largest commercial carbon capture and storage project has started operations in the Dutch village of Sluiskil, the European Commission said. The facility is expected to capture and liquefy up to 800,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually and store around 12 million metric tons over 15 years. The CO₂ will be shipped for permanent storage beneath the Norwegian North Sea at the EU-funded Northern Lights facility.Press release follows....
