Ex-Google engineer seeks home confinement in trade secrets case

Defense attorneys argued that Ding's proper sentencing range is zero to six months because Google suffered no actual loss, and prosecutors cannot show he intended to cause financial harm. They also pointed to the judge's earlier finding that Ding never used the documents to build a product and appeared incapable of getting his startup off the ground.
