Meta faces Indonesia scrutiny over erroneous WhatsApp account disabling

The ministry said Wednesday that Meta acknowledged a global error in WhatsApp's account-detection system had incorrectly disabled some users and said mitigation and account restoration were underway. The government asked Meta to accelerate restoration and said it would continue monitoring the company's handling of complaints and remediation.
