Meta, Google, Tiktok lose bid to block California social media law during appeal

( August 22, 2026, 01:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A federal judge in San Jose, California, denied a preliminary injunction sought by Google, Meta Platforms and TikTok to block enforcement of the state's Protecting Our Kids from Social Media Addiction Act, also known as SB 976, while the companies appeal a lower court loss to have SB 976 declared unconstitutional. "Plaintiffs have not shown that they will suffer irreparable harm by complying with the personalized feed provisions of SB 976 while the Ninth Circuit considers their appeals," US District Judge Edward Davila said in the order.See attached document....
