Chinese gold industry opposes US forced-labor restrictions, LBMA suspensions

( August 20, 2026, 08:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s gold industry has opposed US restrictions on some Chinese gold companies under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and the London Bullion Market Association’s subsequent suspension of their good-delivery status, the China Gold Association said in a statement on Wednesday. The association said the measures lacked a factual basis, rejected allegations of forced labor in Xinjiang and said it would coordinate industry efforts to protect affected companies’ rights, strengthen compliance and traceability systems and engage in international dialogue. It urged US authorities to stop imposing restrictions based on what it called false information and called on the LBMA to reverse its decision.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
