New Zealand watchdog calls for greater competition in electricity connections

The commission warned electricity networks that impeding competition could breach Section 36 of the Commerce Act and that it expects electricity distributors and Transpower to let approved third-party providers compete wherever safe and practical, clearly identify which work is contestable and treat competitors on equal terms with their own contracting businesses.
