Snow app operators receive corrective order in Japan over undisclosed paid posts

( August 7, 2026, 03:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The operators of popular photo-editing app Snow received a corrective order in Japan Thursday for failing to disclose that social-media posts promoting the app were paid advertising. The Consumer Affairs Agency said South Korea-based Snow Corporation and Snow Japan paid influencers to post positive comments about the Snow app on X without indicating that the posts were part of a paid campaign. The consumer watchdog determined that the practice constituted stealth marketing, which is prohibited under Japan's law against misleading representations.
