( August 7, 2026, 02:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia's Competition Commission, or KPPU, has opened preliminary proceedings against MUFG Bank over the alleged late notification of its acquisition of PT Mandala Multifinance Tbk. In a hearing on Thursday, KPPU investigators alleged that MUFG submitted its mandatory post-closing merger notification six working days after the statutory deadline. The commission said the acquisition of a 70.61 percent stake in the Indonesian finance company became legally effective on March 14, 2024, requiring notification by May 6 under Indonesia's merger control rules. The regulator said it received the filing on May 16. The next hearing, scheduled for Aug. 20, will allow MUFG to respond to the alleged violation and present supporting evidence.Statement follows (in Indonesian)...
