Japanese publisher Kodansha reports phishing-related data breach
( August 4, 2026, 03:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Kodansha, a major Japanese publisher, said Monday that unauthorized access to an employee's corporate email account resulted in the theft of the contact information of up to 3,812 people. Phishing emails impersonating a Kodansha employee were sent to 553 of those email addresses. The publisher said it notified affected individuals on July 31, reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission and is investigating the cause while taking steps to prevent a recurrence.Statement is attached (in Japanese)....
