Indonesia weighs AI training rules in copyright law overhaul
( July 30, 2026, 06:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia is seeking to balance artificial intelligence innovation with copyright protection as it drafts amendments to the Copyright Law, Deputy Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Nezar Patria said in a statement Wednesday. Nezar said the government is consulting technology companies, publishers and creative industries on issues including the use of copyrighted works to train AI models and protection of creators' economic rights. The Copyright Bill remains under the coordination of the Ministry of Law, he said. He said the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs will continue providing input to ensure the legislation supports AI development while providing legal certainty for copyright holders.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
