WhatsApp’s AI incognito mode under 'monitoring' for possible EU AI Act breach

( July 27, 2026, 16:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: WhatsApp’s AI incognito mode is currently being “monitored,” European Commission vice-president Henna Virkkunen said in response to a question from lawmakers on Monday. Some European Parliament members had raised concerns about the system on which the mode is built — a so-called “zero-log” — which makes past conversations disappear immediately. Virkkunen said that though the bloc’s AI and digital rules don’t explicitly rule out zero-log systems, it will keep an eye on the situation and the possible need for regulatory intervention in the future.Question and answer attached....
