South Korea unveils nearly $1tr in AI initiatives at San Francisco event

( July 27, 2026, 04:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Presidential Office announced new artificial intelligence initiatives over the weekend, valued at nearly $1 trillion and mostly involving deals with Nvidia, Broadcom and Microsoft to purchase high-end memory chips from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Naver, SK Telecom and Samsung SDS have also partnered with Nvidia, Amazon Web Services and Anthropic to expand AI data-center capacity in South Korea, as well as pursue other infrastructure projects, according to Kim Yong-beom, chief presidential secretary for policy. South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT also signed a memorandum of understanding with Advanced Micro Devices to cooperate on building heterogeneous AI computing infrastructure. These initiatives were announced during and after the AI Summit in San Francisco, hosted by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.The statements are attached (in Korean)....
