Discord agrees to enact UK safety features in Texas

( July 24, 2026, 17:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that Discord has agreed to use the same age-assurance and default safety protections it provides to users in the United Kingdom to those in the state. According to the statement, an expert for Texas testified in court that extending the existing UK safety features to Texas children was “just a matter of turning it on for Texas" and such a change would make it more difficult for adults posing as teenagers to reach children, and Discord’s own witnesses agreed. “Faced with its own witnesses agreeing under oath that Texas’s safeguards would work, Discord agreed to make them,” the AG said.Statement follows in full. ...
