Indonesia outlines AI governance priorities at WAICO founders' meeting
( July 20, 2026, 09:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Statement: Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to helping shape international artificial intelligence governance during the High-Level Meeting of founding members of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, or WAICO, in Shanghai on Saturday. In a statement, Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto said Indonesia is developing a National AI Roadmap to guide investment in digital infrastructure, AI talent, research and responsible AI governance as part of its broader digital economy strategy. He also said Indonesia aims to expand AI and semiconductor cooperation with international partners while leveraging its growing data center capacity to attract investment in AI infrastructure.
