Paramount seeks US judge's recusal in states' merger challenge

( July 15, 2026, 22:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Paramount Skydance has moved for the recusal of US District Judge P. Casey Pitts from overseeing states' challenge to its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. In its motion for recusal, Paramount said there was an "appearance of bias" toward the plaintiff states because Pitts previously worked as a partner at Altshuler Berzon where he served as "long standing labor counsel" for Writers Guild of America West and Writers Guild of America East — entities that have filed a related litigation against Paramount and who have issued a public statement advocating in favor of the plaintiff states. Paramount requested that the states' merger challenge be reassigned to US District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín, who is already presiding over a similar case against the deal.See attached filing....
