( July 10, 2026, 10:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Large social media platforms are set to face extra duties in the UK to let adults filter harmful but legal content and unverified users, offer identity verification, and notify news publishers before moderating their content under draft codes published Friday by regulator Ofcom. Category 1 services would also need safeguards for journalistic content, expedited complaints' procedures and assessments of safety measures’ effects on freedom of expression and privacy.
