UK housebuilders targeted in £4.5 billion antitrust collective claim

( June 30, 2026, 07:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nine of the UK's biggest housebuilders face a £4.5 billion collective legal claim over allegations that they shared commercially sensitive information that inflated new-build home prices for more than 700,000 buyers between 2015 and 2026. The case, brought by consumer advocate Mark McLaren, seeks compensation of between £3,100 and £6,200 per homeowner and builds on a previous UK antitrust investigation that resulted in the firms accepting binding commitments in 2025. The claim, backed by litigation funder Burford Capital, must first be certified by the Competition Appeal Tribunal.Press statement attached....
