Indonesia, Kuwait push for Gulf Cooperation Council trade deal by end-2026

In a statement issued Thursday, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the commitment was made during a meeting in Jakarta with Kuwaiti Ambassador Khalid Jassim Alyassin. The two sides also discussed expanding trade and investment ties, with bilateral trade rising 10.7 percent in 2025 to $606 million. Airlangga said Indonesia and Kuwait would continue cooperating on energy projects while supporting efforts to conclude negotiations on the trade agreement between Indonesia and the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council.Statement follows (in Indonesian)...
