Shipping container buyers file price-fixing class action on heels of US DOJ case

( June 11, 2026, 23:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Shipping container buyers filed a proposed class action alleging a conspiracy among "the world’s dominant standard dry shipping container manufacturers" to restrict supply and fix prices. "Beginning no later than November 14, 2019, Defendants engaged in a concerted scheme to artificially inflate the price of standard dry shipping containers by agreeing to limit their production, despite high levels of demand and a shipping crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic," the complaint says. The plaintiff, Daybreak Express, says it purchased standard dry shipping containers indirectly from one or more defendants for its own use in commercial transportation services. The lawsuit asserts that the defendants have been indicted by the US Department of Justice for the same alleged illegal conduct. See complaint. ...
