APEC trade ministers adopt Suzhou Statement, services roadmap in China

( May 27, 2026, 03:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation trade ministers adopted the “Suzhou Statement” and a new services roadmap at a meeting in Suzhou, China, on May 22-23, China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a Q&A published Tuesday. The ministry said the statement reaffirmed support for regional economic integration, advancement of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific agenda and the World Trade Organization-centered multilateral trading system. Officials said the agreement also endorsed cooperation on digital trade, green development and supply-chain connectivity, including efforts to extend the moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions. The ministry said the measures would help improve China’s domestic regulatory framework for digital trade, data flows and cross-border e-commerce, while supporting the country’s green and low-carbon industrial transition. The ministry said the accompanying “APEC Innovation, Competitive and Resilient Services Roadmap” would guide regional services trade development over the next decade.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
