South Korea seeks to extend statute of limitations for cartels to 15 years
( May 27, 2026, 03:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s competition regulator plans to extend the statute of limitations for cartel cases to as long as 15 years by increasing the basic limitation period from seven years to 10 years, giving investigators more time to investigate long-concealed cartel conduct. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Wednesday that it would also seek to restrict market participation for repeat cartel offenders, including revocation of business licenses or registrations and business-suspension orders. In addition, the KFTC plans to establish a 40-member Priority Investigation Taskforce to handle large-scale and complex investigations involving platforms, monopolistic practices and large business groups.The statements are attached (in Korean). ...
