South Korean privacy regulator issues generative AI user-data guide

( May 19, 2026, 02:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s privacy regulator has published a user-focused guide on how personal information is handled in generative artificial intelligence services. The Personal Information Protection Commission said Tuesday the guide covers eight common concerns, including whether prompts are used for AI training, how deleted chats are retained, data transfers abroad, workplace-data input and external-service integrations. It advises users to check opt-out and deletion settings, avoid entering sensitive or third-party information and limit permissions for connected services. The regulator said the guide is intended to improve AI privacy literacy and help users exercise greater control over their data.Statement and user guide attached (in Korean). ...
