Rail incumbents see EU Commission tackle ‘quasi-monopolistic’ positions

The draft text, which needs to be approved by member states and the EU Parliament, represents an effort to correct the market for train tickets, following antitrust proceedings against Deutsche Bahn and Renfe in recent years.Large rail operators, such as SNCF and Deutsche Bahn, will be obliged to let third-party websites sell their tickets, as well as having to sell competitors' tickets, under a legal proposal unveiled on Wednesday by the European Commission that aims to prevent dominance abuse by those operators in the market for train tickets....
