Online games face Australian regulator notices over grooming concerns

( April 23, 2026, 01:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Online gaming platforms including Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite and Steam have been issued legally enforceable transparency notices by the Australian regulator amid concerns about grooming. In a statement on Wednesday, the Australian eSafety Commissioner said the transparency notices require platforms to detail how they identify, prevent and respond to harms, including the use of online games by sexual predators to groom children and by extremist groups to spread violent propaganda and radicalize young people. The regulator said online gaming platforms are required to comply with minimum obligations under the Online Safety Codes and Standards and any breach can result in penalties of up to A$49.5 million ($35.4 million) per breach.Statement follows....
