Six paper makers fined for four-year price cartel in South Korea

( April 23, 2026, 03:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Six paper companies in South Korea have been fined a combined 338.3 billion won ($228.7 million) by the country’s antitrust regulator for nearly four years of collusion to raise printing paper prices. On Thursday, The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Moorim SP, Moorim Paper, Moorim P&P, Hankuk Paper, Hansol Paper and Hongwon Paper coordinated at least 60 meetings between February 2021 and December 2024 to agree on seven rounds of price increases through list-price hikes and discount cuts. The watchdog also ordered the companies to independently reset prices, imposed corrective measures and referred two of the companies to prosecutors.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
