South Korea launches autonomous driving, humanoid groups under physical AI strategy

( April 21, 2026, 08:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s National AI Strategy Committee has created two new subcommittees on autonomous driving and humanoid robots under its push to raise the country’s competitiveness in embodied AI. The committee said the groups held their inaugural meetings on Tuesday under growing urgency to foster those industries as competition intensifies globally. The autonomous driving subcommittee, comprising 12 members led by a Hyundai Motor executive, discussed regulatory improvements, safety guidelines for autonomous systems and the expansion of large-scale testing in public transport and logistics. The humanoid robotics subcommittee, with 14 members including major robot makers and led by a Seoul National University professor, discussed global competition, South Korea’s strategic response and plans to develop a humanoid robotics ecosystem.The statement is attached (in Korean)....
