Japan's Suntory to buy Daiichi Sankyo OTC unit in $1.55 billion deal

( April 16, 2026, 00:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japanese beverage maker Suntory Holdings said Wednesday it will acquire all shares of Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare from its parent Daiichi Sankyo for 246.5 billion yen ($1.55 billion), as it looks to expand in self-medication and self-care. The Osaka-based beverage group plans a three-stage purchase of the over-the-counter drugmaker, beginning with a 30 percent stake on June 1 and culminating in full ownership by June 1, 2029, it said.
