Hong Kong's judiciary to consult legal profession on AI guidelines

( April 14, 2026, 02:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Hong Kong Judiciary is drafting guidelines on the use of generative artificial intelligence for legal practitioners and court users, with plans to consult the legal profession later this year. In a paper submitted to the legislature for discussion on Monday, the authority said the move follows guidelines issued in July 2024 that already permit judges, judicial officers and support staff to use AI technology prudently and responsibly. The judiciary said it will continue exploring AI applications in both judicial and non-judicial work.Excerpt of the paper follows....
