Thailand rolls out e-commerce competition rules, effective immediately

( March 25, 2026, 10:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Trade Competition Commission of Thailand issued new guidelines on Wednesday governing unfair trade practices and anticompetitive conduct in multi-sided digital platforms, particularly e-commerce services, effective immediately. The guidelines clarify the application of the 2017 Trade Competition Act to platform operators and related business partners, including sellers, logistics providers, advertisers and payment service providers. They set out prohibited price-related conduct such as parallel pricing, unjustified price discrimination and excessive or unnotified fees, as well as non-price conduct including algorithmic suppression of sellers’ visibility, self-preferencing, forced use of platform-designated logistics services and misuse of data for competitive advantage. The commission said enforcement will be assessed case by case based on market impact and contractual context, with violations subject to criminal and administrative penalties.The statement and guidelines are attached (in Thai)....
