China to accelerate AI legislation, revise road-traffic safety law this year

( March 13, 2026, 05:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Justice will step up legislative efforts in emerging sectors including artificial intelligence and the low-altitude economy this year, while revising the Road Traffic Safety Law and drafting new airspace-management regulations to promote technological innovation, Justice Minister He Rong said Thursday on the sidelines of the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress. The ministry will also formulate rules to support the construction of a unified national market, accelerate foreign-related legislation and advance legal frameworks to facilitate trade, investment and customs clearance, in a bid to steadily expand institutional opening-up, she said.
