UK banks, tech companies, government form anti-fraud center

( March 9, 2026, 09:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK government has said that the Online Crime Centre, bringing together police, banks, tech companies and the government, will become operational in April. The OCC will target organized crime groups that defraud the public through scam calls and social media. The £30 million center, which is part of the UK's new fraud strategy, will identify the offending accounts, websites and phone numbers, and shut them down.Statement follows....
