Google seeks partial stay of judgment in US DOJ's search monopoly lawsuit pending appeal

( January 16, 2026, 23:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google asked a US federal court to stay certain provisions of the final judgment in an internet search monopolization lawsuit brought by the US Department of Justice pending an appeal of the court’s liability and remedies rulings. Specifically, Google asked the US District Court for the District of Columbia to stay its obligations to disclose “data related to Google’s web search index” and “user-side data” to “qualified competitors.” It also asked the court to stay the requirements to enter a “search syndication license” and “search text ads syndication agreement” with “qualified competitors.” “In deciding whether a stay is warranted, the Court considers the likelihood that Google 'will prevail on the merits of the appeal,' the likelihood that Google 'will be irreparably harmed absent a stay,' and 'the public interest in granting the stay,' including 'the prospect that others will be harmed' by a stay," the company said.See attached document....
