EPIC report highlights growing importance of state AGs in protecting US privacy

( October 22, 2025, 14:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Electronic Privacy Information Center published a report examining state enforcement actions across six areas: unwanted calls and texts, data breach, data privacy, antitrust, platform accountability and governance, and algorithms and automated systems. The report catalogs over 220 cases and settlements, 35 letters, and 20 public investigations from January 2020 through December 2024. “Because state AGs are determined to protect consumers from privacy harms, we see them creatively pursuing privacy-related enforcement despite limited resources and enforcement authorities that have not always kept pace with newer technologies,” EPIC’s Chris Frascella said.Statement follows in full. ...
