Twitter sued in California over allegations of misusing users' data for targeted marketing

( April 13, 2023, 18:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Twitter is facing a proposed class action in California alleging e-mails and telephone numbers allegedly used to help secure their accounts were secretly used for advertising and marketing purposes. Twitter used the information in its “Tailored Audiences” and “Partner Audiences” marketing products, "thereby permitting advertisers to target specific groups of Twitter users by matching the telephone numbers and e-mail addresses that Twitter collected to the advertisers’ existing (or purchased) lists of telephone numbers and email addresses," according to a complaint filed by California resident Henry Yeh, who wants to represent a class of US Twitter users who provided their phone number and/or e-mail address between May 2013 and September 2019. See complaint below....
