UK fuel market assessment to be concluded in spring next year, government tells CMA

( October 12, 2022, 15:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK government said it would complete its assessment of the country's fuel market by the spring of next year, responding to the Competition and Markets Authority's review of the sector. The CMA is also conducting a market study. The government's business department said the CMA's review hadn't uncovered any "substantive issues" with the retail road fuel market and its impact on consumers. The CMA's review, said the department, has concluded that the market for the supply of retail fuel in the UK appears relatively competitive, but there are local variations in the price of road fuel, including pricing disparities between urban and rural areas.Statement follows.
