Major delivery apps in South Korea revise terms unfair to small vendors

( September 4, 2022, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The operators of three major delivery apps in South Korea, including Baedal Minjok, Yogiyo and Coupang Eats, rectified their unfair terms and conditions against small vendors. According to a statement from the Korea Fair Trade Commission, their voluntary revision was prompted by the regulator’s inquiry into their contracts with restaurant owners, which began in response to a complaint from a business association that some of the terms may be problematic. The revised rules stipulate, among other things, that platforms must assume liability when they intentionally or negligently cause vendors harm by interrupting their services due to technical issues, that significant announcements affecting vendors must be made to them individually, and that contracts can only be terminated upon preliminary seizures or disposals of vendor assets that are integral to the fulfillment of those arrangements or for reasons elaborated, the regulator said.The regulator's statement, in Korean, is attached....
