FTC Commissioner Chopra dissents in YouTube children's privacy settlement

( September 4, 2019, 13:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Federal Trade Commissioner Rohit Chopra, a Democrat, isn't happy with today's $170 million settlement by Google to settle allegations by the FTC and the New York Attorney General that YouTube violated children's privacy. Google "baited children using nursery rhymes, cartoons, and other kid-directed content on curated YouTube channels to feed its massively profitable behavioral advertising business," he wrote. Among other things, Chopa decried the lack of executive accountability. "This outcome reinforces my concerns that the commission brings down the hammer on small firms, while allowing large firms to get off easier," he wrote.FTC Commissioner Rohit Chopra's full statement is attached....
