Workday must face novel bias claims over AI screening software, US judge finds

( July 12, 2024, 00:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Workday's bid to dismiss a proposed class action claiming that the artificial intelligence-powered software the company uses to screen out job applicants for other businesses perpetuates discrimination in violation of US law was rejected in part by US District Judge Rita Lin in San Francisco. Lin dismissed claims that Workday intentionally discriminated based on race and age, and said Workday also cannot be considered an "employment agency" under anti-bias laws because it does not procure job opportunities for workers.
