Qualcomm expert can testify, judge says in denying FTC motion to exclude testimony

( December 17, 2018, 00:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US District Judge Lucy Koh has denied a motion by the Federal Trade Commisison to exclude the testimony of Qualcomm expert witness Edward Snyder. "The Court concludes that Dr. Snyder’s testimony is based on a reliable methodology and isn't the 'junk science' Daubert aims to preclude from jury consideration," Koh said, referring to a 2017 Ninth Circuit case involving GlaxoSmithKline. "Tellingly, the FTC does not contend that Dr. Snyder misapplied industrial organization theory, attack Dr. Snyder’s qualifications as an economist, or contend that industrial organization theory is not a valid discipline."See attached order....
