Gategroup gets further waiver of EU commitments on LSG merger

( January 31, 2022, 11:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Swiss travel catering provider Gategroup has received a further waiver from commitments it made in 2020 to get EU approval for its acquisition of LSG, the in-flight catering business of Deutsche Lufthansa. The European Commission said it had lifted an obligation to divest certain in-flight catering contracts with airlines at Rome Fiumicino airport, because the structure of the market had changed in a way that was not “reasonably foreseeable” at the time of the deal. It also said that competition concerns raised at the time were no longer likely to arise. The move comes three months after the commission granted Gategroup a waiver of other commitments from the deal, in relation to contracts with airlines at German airports. Statement follows....
