Google is engaging with Japanese antitrust regulator over order, Alphabet says

The JFTC’s cease-and-desist order was directed at Google for its search-distribution practices on Android phones, although no fine was imposed. In its latest 10-Q filing, the tech giant said yesterday: “We are constructively engaging with JFTC regarding compliance with the order.” Japanese antitrust experts speculate whether Google might appeal the JFTC’s decision, which determined that its default-setting arrangements for search and other apps with device makers constitute an unfair-trade practice prohibited by the Antimonopoly Act.
