US DOJ, states say Live Nation seeks to split monopolization case for 'no good reason'

( February 20, 2026, 17:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice and plaintiff states told a federal judge that Live Nation’s “eleventh-hour” bifurcation motion should be denied because the bifurcation it proposes would create waste and prejudice for no good reason. They argued that requiring the plaintiff states’ claims to be tried separately from overlapping and factually intertwined claims brought by the US would require duplicating the weeks-long trial, reintroducing a common set of documents, and recalling dozens of witnesses to resolve common factual and legal questions. Additionally, they said that splitting the case would not solve the purported harm because all plaintiff state’s claims rely on a common body of evidence.See attached file. ...
